The Al Ain Court of First Instance ruled to oblige a company director to pay a former employee an amount of 10,000 dirhams as compensation for harming her reputation.
An employee filed a lawsuit, demanding that her former manager be obligated to pay her an amount of 40 thousand dirhams, as compensation for the material, moral, and moral damage she suffered, with legal interest of 9% from the date of the lawsuit until full payment, in addition to fees and expenses and legal fees. Pointing out that the defendant, after she left work in the company he managed, defamed her and published statements accusing her of various charges, and he was tried and convicted according to a criminal ruling.
For its part, the court explained in the merits of its ruling that it is stipulated in the text of Article (282) of the Civil Transactions Law that every harm to others obligates the perpetrator, even if he is not discerning, to guarantee the harm, pointing out that what is proven from reviewing the papers and documents is the defendant’s conviction for harming the plaintiff’s reputation, and the court ruled. By obligating the defendant to pay the plaintiff an amount of 10,000 dirhams, as compensation for the damages she suffered, while obliging him to pay the fees, expenses of the lawsuit, and attorney’s fees.
