Another European in America?
The team Dale Coyne Racing does not boast a history full of successes in the United States, where the team founded by the former American driver is nevertheless recognized as a real launching pad in IndyCar not only for young ‘Made in USA’ talents, but also for those have spent most of their careers in Europe or in international categories such as Formula 1. This is the case of the French Sébastien Bourdais and Romain Grosjean, as well as the more recent one of Luca Ghiotto, who from the next round in Detroit (after two races ) will leave his car to Tristan Vautier. However, in optics 2025the hypothesis of the arrival of another former F1 player, now involved in the WEC with Alpine, has recently emerged: Mick Schumacher.
“We are talking to him”
The confirmation came directly from the words of Dale Coyne in an interview given to Auto Motor und Sportin which the team owner admitted his desire to bring the German son of art to the United States: “There are all these Formula 2 drivers who come first or second but have no real future in Formula 1 – has explained – Mick Schumacher is a perfect example. We would love to welcome such a great driver here. We’re talking to him, although he still pins his hopes on his commitment to Alpine. I would be very happy if we had the chance.”
Schumacher’s commitments
An operation that would therefore make Coyne happy, even if Schumacher’s transfer overseas for 2025 would be quite complex. This, as admitted by Coyne himself, not only for the German’s current commitment in the WEC with Alpine (a team which, as indicated in recent days by team principal Bruno Famin, could also promote Schumacher in F1), but also for the role of son of Michael as a test driver for Mercedes, also in the Circus.
The hope of F1
A hypothesis, that of a return to F1 after two colorless seasons in Haas, which seems to become increasingly concrete especially after the contact between Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly in Monaco, an episode not at all appreciated by Famin and which could lead to consequences on a possible stopping of Ocon already from the Canadian GP. However, despite Famin having nice words for Schumacher, the most suitable replacement for the Frenchman would seem to be Jack Doohan.
