A man who allegedly ran over and killed a 24-year-old young man outside a nightclub in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid) last Saturday has surrendered to the police, after realizing that he had no other way out. This is a 34-year-old individual who had fled after running over the victim, who died almost instantly. The man has been detained pending a statement and it is expected that in the next few hours he will be brought to justice.
The accident occurred this Saturday, June 1, around six in the morning, in the parking lot of the Plaza Norte shopping center, in the municipality of San Sebastián de los Reyes. According to initial investigations, the fatal crash occurred after an argument in the nightclub in front of the parking lot, although it is still being investigated whether the victim was involved in the altercation. The brawl, in any case, continued to the area where several vehicles had been parked and it was there where the driver got into his gray BMW and ran over the victim, a 24-year-old Spanish man. The Government delegate, Francisco Martín, has confirmed that “some incidents” occurred inside the leisure venue, for which several people were expelled. At the place where the young man died, his friends have placed a small tribute.
Numerous witnesses in the area identified the perpetrator and the car he was driving. After a weekend with an unknown whereabouts, the efforts carried out by Group VI led the man to the conclusion that he had no choice but to surrender. For this reason, late Sunday afternoon he showed up at the Alcobendas police station and identified himself as the driver of the San Sebastián de los Reyes accident. He is a 34-year-old Colombian citizen and, at the moment, the reason why the discussion began prior to the attack is unknown.
Civil Protection personnel from San Sebastián de los Reyes went to the scene. They, along with agents from the National Police, were the first to arrive and began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers on the victim. Shortly after, the Summa 112 paramedics arrived, who continued the maneuvers without success and confirmed his death. According to Emergency 112 of the Community of Madrid, the young man had severe head trauma, chest trauma and several multiple traumas. Several witnesses point out that the driver was able to run over the boy on two occasions.
