At Computex 2024, AMD announced its next-gen AI-enhanced laptop processors with Zen 5 CPU, XDNA 2 NPU and RDNA 3.5 graphics.
After weeks of rumors and leaks, AMD has finally officially announced the new generation of AI-powered laptop processors. As widely expected, theAMD Ryzen AI 300 announcement it arrived during the keynote that the company just held at Computex 2024. As for the specifications, the new processors will have Zen 5 CPUs with up to 12 Cores and 24 Threads, 50 TOPS AMD XDNA 2 NPUs and AMD RDNA graphics 3.5 up to 16 Compute Units.
The next-gen AI processors were developed in collaboration with Microsoft, respecting all the specifications required for Copilot+ PCs, with performance on paper superior to that of the Snapdragon Elite X. But let’s go into the details of the announcement.
AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processors
As mentioned at the beginning, the AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processors feature Zen 5 CPUs with up to 12 cores and 24 threads, with a dedicated AI engine based on the new AMD XDNA 2 architecture. The new 300 series promises to improve productivity and creativity effectively managing local AI workloads, generating content and automating workflows, while maintaining exceptional power efficiency. The processors are equipped with the new AMD RDNA 3.5 graphics architecture, i.e. they are equipped with the latest AMD Radeon 800M Series graphics cards.

AMD also said it worked with more than 150 development companies to ensure maximum compatibility with the new processors, which performed better than the Snapdragon X Elite, Apple M3 and Intel Core Ultra 185H in several benchmarks.
Even in games AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 showed better performance than Intel Core Ultra 185H, with a performance improvement of up to +36% in titles such as Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Far Cry 6, F1 2023, Borderlands and Cyberpunk 2077.
AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series release date
The new AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processors will be available from July 2024 on laptop PCs from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo and MSI, with new models that will be shown already at Computex 2024. ASUS, for example, will announce new systems powered by AMD Ryzen AI 300 Series processors, including ROG Zephyrus G16, ProArt P16 and PX13, Zenbook S 16, ASUS Vivobook S 14, S 15 and S 16, and TUF Gaming A14 and A16. MSI, however, will present the new Stealth A16 AI+, Summit A16 AI+, Prestige A16 AI+ and Creator A16 AI+.
