Prime Minister Ciolaku: Romania will discuss the possibility of supplying Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine
Romanian authorities will discuss the possibility of supplying Ukraine with the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system (SAM). Prime Minister Marcel Ciolaku stated this in an interview TV channel euronews.
According to the politician, if the system protects Ukrainian territory, this does not mean that it will not cover Romania. It is clarified that the decision on the transfer of the air defense system will be made by the Supreme Council of National Defense. The Prime Minister stressed that after consultation with experts, council members will make the best decision.
Earlier, Spain announced the preparation of a new package of military assistance to Ukraine. Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles said that Madrid will send 155-mm artillery shells and anti-unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems to Kyiv.
It also became known that Belgium intends to transfer 30 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in accordance with the agreement.
