Rebus Ducati, there is still no solution
At Mugello it’s not just the track that speaks. Indeed, for now it has been mainly done by the paddock, with the inevitable market rumors linked to the choice that Ducati is called to make for the rider lineup of the official team for 2025. The Borgo Panigale manufacturer wants to please both Jorge Martin that Marc Marquezbut it is clear that only one of the two will be able to wear red, taking the place of Enea Bastianini who even in words seems to have given up on farewell.
Martin’s either/or was clearer than Marquez’s: the championship leader wants to be Bagnaia’s partner, while the eight-time world champion has opened up to a stay in the Gresini team after specifically asking for a bike updated to the latest evolution and – if possible – an official team. Which was surprising, because Gresini has so far had developments that are a year old: has Marquez picked up something on the possibility of riding a GP25 while remaining where he is? Possible, also considering that Pramac has not yet formalized the renewal with Ducati (there are rumors of a possible agreement with Yamaha), and that therefore the GP25s could be reassigned to another team in the Borgo Panigale universe. The hypothesis of five GP25s on the grid next season has also made its way, and the CEO Claudio Sundays he didn’t rule it out, even though he considered it complicated.
Domenicali’s words
“It’s something we’re seeing as a whole. There are four so far, but it’s a complicated picture to be honest. We would like to get the most for the brand, obviously, and we are very connected with the riders we are talking to, we will try to find the best solutions. We still need some time to put the bricks in place and finally build the wall“, these are his words to TNT Sports.
“There are many reasons to make different decisions, so it’s not easy. On the other hand we know that whatever choice we make will be a good one: we are not relaxed, but confident“.
In short, seeing five official Ducatis in 2025 to please Marquez too is a possibility that cannot be ruled out. But, if it became reality, it wouldn’t be clear why the Spaniard had to say no to Pramac to stay in Gresini, another satellite team. Which, unlike that of the patron Paolo Campinoti, he has not been a protagonist at high levels in recent years.
