In Japan there is a restaurant where this is possible eat Pokémon dishes (actually only one, as we will see). In reality there are more restaurants, given that it is a chain of Chinese restaurants called Tafukurou, made up of eight restaurants spread across Japan, the largest of which is in Kawasaki. The restaurant menu includes Pokémon-themed dishes, complete with approval, albeit indirect, from The Pokémon Company: Fried Pokémon or Pokémon Age, as the Japanese say.
Frying Pokémon
At this point you will be disappointed to know that the reporter who discovered the restaurant verified that This is not real Pokémon meat, but fried chicken. According to the report he published, it was also excellent, but why call it Pokémon Fried?
The reason is easily identifiable in the menu itself, where the entire story is written. Between 2004 and 2010 Japanese TV broadcast the Pokémon Sunday show, dedicated without too many mysteries to the series of The Pokémon Company. During one of the episodes of the show, Tafukurou’s fried chicken was introduced as Pokémon Fried and the name stuck from there.
Since the broadcast also involved The Pokémon Company, it is clear that it is something official, or that in some way it does not bother the company, which in fact gave it its approval. So, the dish kept that name, despite not being advertised much. That said, it’s clear that many Pokémon fans might also feel a certain aversion to a dish named in this way. How could anyone even think of eating poor Pikachu?
