INE cancels installation of 222 boxes due to insecurity; almost half in Chiapas

The National Electoral Institute (INE) has reported on the cancellation of 222 boxes due to community and insecurity problems in 10 states of Mexico. This situation affects a total of 126,093 citizens, who will have to vote outside their communities.

Chiapas is the state with the most affected boxes, with 108 of the 519 squares initially at risk. These cancellations impact 60,577 voters.

The municipalities most affected by violence are Chicomuselo, with 45 canceled boxes; Pantelhó, with 28; Bellavista, with three; Ocozocuautla de Espinosa, with two; and Villaflores, with one, adding a total of 44,375 voters. Other municipalities affected by political, social and agrarian conflicts are San Cristóbal, Tila, Amatenango, Altamirano and Honduras de la Sierra.

In Michoacán, the number of canceled polls remains at 88, affecting 54,195 citizens. The municipalities involved include Charapán, Cherán, Chilchota, Nahuatzen, Paracho, Quiroga, Aquila, Carpinteros, San José, Turícuaro, Tingambato, Uruapan, Ziracuaretiro and Jarácuaro.

Affects in other states; INE will not install boxes due to insecurity

Nayarit: Basic box 350 will not be installed for reasons of insecurity.
Nuevo León: Three polling stations affected, with 727 voters, one of them due to insecurity and two due to the lack of polling station officials.
Oaxaca: Of the 199 boxes at risk, nine will not be installed in San Mateo del Mar, Santo Domingo Platanillo, Zimatlán and Benito Juárez.
Sinaloa: Box 576E in Tuxcuxiapa, Badiraguato, was canceled for reasons of insecurity. Here 181 people would vote, who must go to an adjacent table.
Tlaxcala: Two boxes canceled in Chihutempan.
Mexico City: A box was not installed due to the refusal of the National Defense to place it in Military Field 1.
Jalisco: In Jilotlán de los Dolores, five polling stations will not be installed in the towns of La Loma, Tazumboz and Rancho Nuevo, affecting 2,280 people, who will have to move to the polling station in the center of the municipality.
Colima: In the municipality of Coquimatlán, three boxes will not be installed due to the presence of crime.

Until last week, the INE 808 squares were at risk.
