IKI ISTP RAS: two powerful flares occurred on the Sun, but safe for the Earth
Two powerful flares occurred on the Sun, but were safe for the Earth. About it reported in the laboratory of solar astronomy of the Space Research Institute (IKI) and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics (ISTP) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
According to scientists, the flares were powerful, but far from the record values of the current solar cycle. Level X flares were produced by area 3697. Both flares were at the lower limit of point X, the message clarifies.
Both outbreaks were short with rapid growth and decline phases. It is assumed that they will not create any consequences for the Earth. According to scientists, “the energy in region 3697 does not want to end, and the region itself is getting closer and closer to the Sun-Earth line.
It is possible that flares will occur in the active center 3697 on the surface of the Sun next week.
