The miracle of Valeria Valverde
The recently recognized miracle regard Valeria Valverde, a 21-year-old girl originally from Costa Rica. In 2022, while studying in Italy, Valeria suffered a serious head injury following a bicycle accident. Valeria’s mother, desperate, decided to pray at the grave of Carlo Acutislocated in Assisi, hoping for a recovery for her daughter.
Six days after the accident, Valeria began to breathe independently and recovered the use of her upper limbs and part of her speech. After just ten days, she was released from the intensive care unit. Subsequent medical tests showed that her brain contusion had disappeared, against all expectations.
Carlo Acutis: a young devotee and innovator
Carlo Acutis, born in 1991, was known for his faith and his passion for technology. Shortly before his death, he created an online exhibition about Eucharistic miracles, highlighting his dedication to the Catholic faith and his talent as a programmer. This commitment has earned him the nickname “God’s influencer”.
The first miracle attributed to Carlo was recognized in 2020 and involved the healing of a Brazilian child suffering from a rare pancreatic condition.
The story of Carlo Acutis is an example of how faith and technology can intertwine in a meaningful way. His canonization represents a historic moment for the Church, which sees in him a model of holiness for today’s young people.
