The Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, stated that Voa Brasil will have no impact on the price of airline tickets. The program proposes to make plane tickets worth R$200 available to INSS retirees and students from the University for All Program (Prouni) who have not traveled in the last 12 months.
“From an aviation point of view, there will be no real impact on ticket prices due to Voa Brasil. Airlines are making idle time available”, Costa Filho told GloboNews.
According to him, the approximately 12% to 15% of idle time that many flights have will be used to “include social aviation”.
During the interview, the minister did not mention a new launch date for the program, but said that in June there will be a meeting with the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, on the subject.
Voa Brasil was announced about a year ago by the federal government and was scheduled to be launched in April. However, the emergency situation in Rio Grande do Sul caused the program to be postponed.
