“Multiple sclerosis is a serious pathology of the central nervous system that affects millions of people in the world and hundreds of thousands in our country alone. People who, despite the diversity of symptoms that may occur depending on the case, suffer from a chronic and progressively disabling. The Italian Multiple Sclerosis Association carries out commendable activity in all aspects related to the disease, committing itself to the benefit of people, their rights and research, without forgetting the families of those affected and the operators involved in the fight against this terrible evil. The Association also makes a very valuable contribution to raising awareness, which is fundamental for removing prejudices and guaranteeing full social integration for everyone.”
Thus the President of the Chamber of Deputies Lorenzo Fontana in a message sent to the leaders of Aism on the occasion of the presentation – today in the Chamber – of the Barometer of Multiple Sclerosis and related pathologies 2024.
“The institutional world has also paid considerable attention to these issues – writes Fontana – Law 227 of 2021 delegating the Government for the reorganization of the current provisions on disability and the consequent implementing decrees, the last of which was adopted in April 2024, outline an innovative regulatory framework which, by enhancing the realization of individual life projects, aims to guarantee effective social inclusion on the basis of equal opportunities with others”. “Everyone’s commitment – concluded Fontana – is essential in the direction of progressively improving the living conditions of people with serious pathologies and disabilities. These people are not a burden but a great resource for society”.
