With the notorious Magura V5 drones, Kiev has once again managed to deal a heavy blow to Putin’s Black Sea fleet in the Ukraine war. The ships are decimated.
Kerch – The Russian positions on the Crimea are increasingly becoming the focus of Ukrainian attacks in the Ukraine war. Now two more Russian army boats have been hit. With the Ukrainian Magura V5 drone messengers, the Ukrainian army has already had great success against Vladimir Putin’s Black Sea fleet in the past – and it is now visibly battered.
Heavy losses for Russia in the Ukraine war: Kiev deploys kamikaze boats
On the night of Thursday (May 30), Ukraine was able to take out two Russian military boats with its innovative sea drones in the port city of Kerch on the Crimean peninsula annexed by Russia. Nikolai Lukashenko, the Russian transport chief for the Crimean region, meanwhile claimed that two transport ferries had been hit in the attack in the Ukraine war – he did not mention the other two boats. Lukashenko stated that two ferries had been damaged “while repelling an enemy attack on the transport infrastructure,” according to the Russian news agency Cup leads.
Success for Kiev in the Ukraine war: Russia suffers losses – patrol boats destroyed
In addition to the two destroyed KS-701 boats and the two ferries, four more of these patrol boats are said to have been damaged by the Ukrainian attack. Special Unit 13 of the Ukrainian Secret Service (DIU) had previously achieved similar successes in the Ukraine war against Russia’s fleet.
Although the Ukraine is currently on the defensive in the war with Russia and has great problems holding the front, the war on water reveals itself for Wladimir Putin than bankruptcy. A third of the ships of the Black Sea Fleet have been destroyed during the Ukraine War sunk or rendered unusable.
And the ships are not easy to replace. Russia’s losses in the Ukraine war are particularly remarkable because Ukraine itself does not have its own armada. Ukraine’s successes at sea are mainly due to the Neptune missiles and the Magura V5 drones.
Losses in the Ukraine war: Putin’s flagship Moskva heralded the demise of the Black Sea Fleet
When the Russian flagship, the Moskva, was destroyed by a Ukrainian Neptune missile in mid-April 2022, Putin’s Black Sea debacle was already looming. In March 2022, Ukraine managed a historic blow against Russia’s marine: The landing ship Saratov near the city of Berdiansk was sunk with a ballistic missile. It was the first ship to fall victim to such a weapon in the Ukraine war, as the Kyiv Independent reported. After the landing ships and the Moskva, further successes followed Kiev’s against Putin’s ships during fighting in the Ukraine war.
In addition to the attacks by sea, Ukraine is trying to further decimate the Russian positions in Crimea with the help of ATACMS missiles. The ballistic missiles with their long range have become the decisive weapon for Kiev in the Ukraine war. The NATOCountries are discussing whether Ukraine can use Western weapons to attack Putin’s positions on Russian territory – the ban still exists. (sure)
