The consumer confidence index in the euro zone, prepared by the European Commission, increased from -14.7 in April to -14.3 in May. Confidence thus remained below the long-term average, but was in line with the forecast of analysts interviewed by FactSet.
The economic sentiment index in the euro zone, in turn, increased from 95.6 in April to 96.0 in May, when analysts expected 96.3. The employment expectations index fell from 101.6 in April to 101.3 in May.
