BYD, the world’s leading Chinese company in clean energy vehicles, moves towards global green mobility. With the Explorer NO.1, a giant ship owned by the brand, it docked for the first time, this Monday (27), on the American continent, at the Port of Suape, in Greater Recife, bringing electric and hybrid cars to the country.
The ship that docked on Pernambuco soil measures 199.9 meters and has the capacity to transport up to 7 thousand vehicles. In total, 5,459 hybrid and electric vehicles arrived here, which will serve the northeastern region of Brazil.
Through the Port of Suape, BYD distributes imports to the north and northeast regions. In addition to Pernambuco, the Chinese also import through Espírito Santo, to the southeast and central-west, and in Santa Catarina, to part of the southeast, south and central-west. Of the models launched today, vehicle prices vary between R$115,000 and R$550,000.
BYD had more than 25.5 thousand units sold in the first five months of the year, 43% more than all registrations in 2023 (17.9 thousand).
“We believe it is possible to maintain sustainability and technology in all our green mobility solutions and we are increasingly committed to contributing to strengthening green and smart international logistics. And Brazil is, without a doubt, one of our biggest bets, in every way”, says Tyler Li, president of BYD do Brasil.
According to data from Fenabrave (National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution), in April, BYD became the ninth automaker to register the most cars in the country, in the general ranking among all brands.
