Aden (Al-Ittihad)
The British Maritime Security Agency, Ambrey, reported that water began seeping into the hull of a commercial ship off the coast of Yemen, and it tilted to one side after being targeted by three missiles. The agency added that the ship flying the Marshall Islands flag sent a distress message stating that it had been damaged in the storage hold and that water was leaking into it, about 54 nautical miles southwest of the Yemeni city of Hodeidah. She continued: “According to the distress message, the ship is tilting on one side.” Greek shipping sources reported that the ship, named “LAX,” was on its way to a nearby port to assess the extent of the damage.
For its part, the British Maritime Trade Operations Authority (UKMTO), which is run by the British Royal Navy, announced that it had “received a report of an incident” southwest of Hodeidah, without details. No party immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, which coincides with a campaign launched by the Houthis against international commercial shipping traffic in the Red Sea.
Separately, the British Maritime Trade Operations Authority said yesterday that it had received a report about an incident 31 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah, without providing further details.
