“With the screening protocol we obtained unexpected results: in less than two years we have recruited more than 20,000 people, of which more than 10,000 are eligible and almost all of them have already had the first screening. It is extraordinary, as we have demonstrated that all the centers in Italy have the potential to carry out lung screening with an acceptable level of quality.” This was said by Ugo Pastorino, director of SC Thoracic Surgery – National Cancer Institute of Milan, Risp project manager, on the sidelines of the institutional initiative ‘The lung at the center of prevention: an Italian reality’, on the occasion of ‘World No Tobacco Day’ , at the Ministry of Health, a moment of awareness and discussion between the main institutional, clinical and patient association stakeholders to address issues related to primary and secondary prevention activities.
