Yesterday, the League of Arab States held the tenth meeting of the Arab Regional Consultation Process on Immigration and Asylum, which is organized by the Social Affairs Sector “Department of Refugees, Expatriates and Immigration Affairs” and will last for two days.
The Arab League said in a statement: The meeting focuses on the latest developments regarding the follow-up and review process of the Global Agreement for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2018, with the aim of preparing member states for effective participation in the Second Regional Review Conference in the Arab region. It is scheduled to be held in Cairo in July 2024.
The statement explained that a session will be devoted during the second day of the meeting on the importance of the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in providing services to Palestinian refugees.
During the meeting, it is scheduled to discuss and adopt the action plan of the consultation process for the years 2024/2025 and the World Refugee Day statement that will be issued on June 20, 2024, in addition to the document issued by the meeting regarding the Second Regional Review Conference of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration in the Arab Region.
