The Complaints and Reports Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE) ordered to the presidential candidate, Xochitl Galvezfrom the Fuerza y Corazón por México coalition, which refrain from calling Morena a “narcoparty”, since you could incur slander due to the accusation of a false crime.
The above, derived from a complaint by the guinda party against the standard bearer of the PAN-PRI-PRD, for her expressions in the third presidential debate which took place last Sunday, May 19.
The commission also approved measures to remove demonstrations related to “narco-party” from the stenographic version of the third debate.
“It is considered that the phrase narcoparty could constitute the imputation of false facts and crimes against the Morena political party by presenting it to the citizens as an institution linked to illicit activities, particularly crimes against health, such as drug trafficking,” the project states.
The counselor Claudia Zavala, president of the commissionproposed approving preventive guardianship, since there is a precedent when the opposition standard-bearer called Claudia Sheinbaum, from the Let’s Keep Making History coalition, a “narco-candidate”
“There will no longer be formal debates organized by the INE, which has been the focus of the use of these terms but the campaign continues, and we we are anticipating is that this type of expressions that imply the criminal organization are not used for the reasons that we are expressing, because they constitute this type of criminal organization” Zavala stressed.
He also pointed out that in the Superior Chamber of the TEPJF, an appeal that was presented against the decision of the Complaints and Complaints Commission on a previous matter is still pending resolution.
“For now, our decision continues to have effect until it is revoked or modified by the Superior Court,” he concluded.
