Twenty passengers from the Singapore Airlines flight, injured after the plane was hit by strong turbulence this Tuesday (21), are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units (ICU) of two hospitals in the Thai capital, the medical centers reported this Wednesday (22) .
According to personal information released, the injured came from Australia, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and the Philippines. In addition to the people still receiving medical care, a passenger died during the incident.
The aircraft, a Boeing 777-300 ER, left London’s Heathrow Airport, bound for the Asian city-state on Monday night (20) with 211 passengers and 18 crew, when it suffered the effects of strong turbulence. The pilot requested an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok.
Portal data AirRadar which records flights around the world, point out that the Singapore Airlines aircraft suffered a sudden loss of altitude for 4 minutes, descending from 37,000 to 31,000 feet, when it apparently managed to stabilize.
A dozen ambulances were mobilized to the foot of the runway to treat the injured, Thai TV Channel 1 reported, which put the total number of injured at 30.
