Oaktree-Inter, now the issue is Lautaro (Barella and Inzaghi)
One of the first issues that Oaktree will have to resolve will be linked to the renewals of the big names: Lautaro, Barella and Mr. Inzaghi first and foremost. According to Corsport, if the adjustments have already been ‘calculated’ for the midfielder and the coach: the crux instead is Lautaro Martinez’s requests: 12 million per season they were not compatible with Suning and cannot be compatible even with the American fund. Therefore, according to this reconstruction it would be up to Toro to take a step back.
“We are close, only a couple of things are missing. I said ‘an agreement this week’ (after Lazio, ed.) because then the championship ends and I wanted to define everything before the America’s Cup but I realize that the club situation could slow everything down : we speak with Marotta and Ausilio but it also depends on the ownership. I don’t know what will happen between now and next week but there are no problems between us”, Lautaro had told the Gazzetta in recent hours. The rumors in the Suning era told of an Inter that could reach around 9 (perhaps with some bonuses to bring the gap between supply and demand closer). The feeling is that Oaktree’s parameters will not be much different.
Oaktree-Inter, Zilliacus: “Buying? Easier now. Club is worth a billion”
Meanwhile, the Finnish entrepreneur Thomas Zilliacus, who in recent months had made it known that he wanted to take over Inter, is back in charge now that Suning has left the scene. On the move to the American fund he explains: “Is Oaktree the new owner of Inter? Sad news for Inter because this change of ownership does not provide continuity, does not allow the right planning and does not allow the club to maintain high standards – he told TvPlay before addressing the players directly support the Nerazzurri – Some have asked me why I only spoke, why I didn’t do anything to buy Inter. Now that the Suning era is coming to an end, I can tell you that I understand the fans’ frustration. But it’s not my fault. I have made two offers to buy Inter in the last year.”
“One was made in July – the words of Ziliacus -, the other was presented in November. The owners could talk to me, but unfortunately this didn’t happen and I don’t know the reasons. I have a lot of respect for Steven Zhang, he came from China and did a fantastic job with Inter in Italy. I had the impression that Zhang was willing to sell. My two offers were supported by one of the three largest banks in the world. I can’t reveal which one. Maybe the fans can’t understand that buying a football club is not like going to buy a bottle of milk, where there is a price tag and you buy the product.”
Thomas Zilliacus wants the Nerazzurri club: “I am very interested in Inter. Now it might be easier because Oaktree is highly motivated to sell the club. Oaktree is the type of entity that from what I understand is interested in getting back into the deal. There is no official announcement yet, but from what we understand it should go in this direction.”
The project: “In my opinion, all clubs should belong to the fans. Without fans there is no club. I have the possibility of involving many large investors also in the acquisition of Inter. I look at a model that can include the fans: Inter must belong to its supporters. Three of the biggest clubs in the Champions League, Real Madrid, Bayern and Borussia Dortmund belong to the fans and in my opinion it is no coincidence.”
The valuation of the club according to the Finnish entrepreneur: “The valuation to buy Inter is around one billion euros. I will make the proposal to Oaktree to demonstrate that the club can be transitioned into a popular venture, such as a project similar to Barcelona or Bayern Munich”.
