Cairo (Al-Ittihad)
Yesterday, Egypt confirmed that it would not back down from joining South Africa in the lawsuit filed before the International Court of Justice against the Israeli occupation to force it to stop crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. The official Middle East News Agency, MENA, quoted a high-ranking Egyptian source denying the allegations reported by media outlets affiliated with the Israeli occupation in this regard. The source stressed that Egypt is determined to take the necessary measures to condemn the genocidal crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the people of Gaza.
Last Sunday, Cairo announced officially joining in support of the lawsuit filed by South Africa before the International Court of Justice to look into the occupation’s violations under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in the Gaza Strip. It considered that the intervention in the case came after the worsening severity and scope of the occupation’s attacks against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, which led to the emergence of an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
