The Investigative Committee will give a legal assessment of the accusations of the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine against the heads of the FSB and the Russian Guard
The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR), Alexander Bastrykin, instructed the director of the FSB, Alexander Bortnikov, the head of the Russian Guard, Viktor Zolotov, and a number of other officers, to give a legal assessment of the charges brought in absentia by the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine. This is stated in Telegram– channel SKR.
The department called the charges an illegal criminal prosecution of high-ranking Russian officials. As part of the investigation, the Investigative Committee will identify the specific officials who made these decisions.
On May 18, the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine filed charges in absentia against Bortnikov, Zolotov and other generals of the Russian special services in connection with “inciting national enmity and hatred and illegally obstructing Ukrainian protests in 2013-2014.” The department reported that the bureau’s investigators, with the assistance of the Security Service of Ukraine, collected evidence of subversive activities of the Russian special services.
The key tasks of the FSB, in particular, were to prevent Ukraine from European integration processes and membership in the NATO collective security treaty, the SBI of Ukraine said.
