Victims of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul can now request a duplicate of their lost documents. All state registry offices are authorized to issue birth, marriage and death certificates. The service is free. The registry offices are open from 9am to 5:30pm.
From Monday (20), four fixed posts in Porto Alegre will begin to respond to requests for these documents free of charge. According to the National Council of Justice (CNJ), the service points will be located on the 3rd floor of Shopping João Pessoa (in the Farroupilha neighborhood), at the Tudo Fácil Zona Norte station, at Shopping Walling (Passo D´Areia neighborhood), in Paternon Regional Forum (Paternon neighborhood) and at Shopping Total, in the Independência neighborhood. Opening hours are from 12pm to 5pm.

The CNJ informed that the request for certificates online will begin on May 31st. The Civil Registry Information Center (CRC) will have a module, called SOS RS, that will enable this service. Those affected by the rains will not have to pay for the service.
Shelters
Those in shelters can also request a new copy of the documentation. Teams are attending these locations. According to the CNJ, almost 10 thousand certificates have already been issued to those sheltered in Porto Alegre and in the interior of the state.
