Xbox has released a new trailer dedicated to Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, the cinematic action video game from Ninja Theory. However, this time it is not a question of an in-depth analysis of the plot, of Senua’s psychosis or of the gameplay, but of the presentation of the collaboration with the Icelandic goldsmith Aurum by Gudbjorg.
The video, which you can find below, offers an overview of the wild lands of Iceland which are the setting for Senua’s adventures, then moving on to the forge of Guðbjörg Kristín Ingvarsdóttir. We see the woman draw Senua’s headdress on paper and thus plan her creation.
The next passage shows, clearly in a symbolic way, how the designer and goldsmith collect the materials you need from the Icelandic land to forge the headdress of the protagonist of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. Let’s then see the forging process. The video also uses the scene to place hammer blows side-by-side with the clanging of swords during the game’s battles.
Metal bills are also compared in pictures to power of Icelandic volcanoes. Finally we see the complete headdress, resting on the sand.
Aurum by Gudbjorg, the story
The Icelandic jewelry store Aurum was founded in 1999 by Guðbjörg Kristín Ingvarsdóttir, goldsmith and designer, and her husband Karl Jóhann Jóhannsson. Together they run the brand and the Aurum shop and workshop in the heart of downtown Reykjavík.
Guðbjörg began his career by studying goldsmith at the Technical Institute of Copenhagen, completing the craftsman’s examination in 1993. In 1994 he completed the master craftsman’s examination in goldsmithing at the Reykjavík Technical Institute, later returning to Copenhagen to study jewelery design at the Institute of Precious Metals. In collaboration with other colleagues, Guðbjörg ran the jewelry workshop Au-Art in Copenhagen from 1996 to 1999. She later returned to Iceland where she founded the jewelry and design company Aurum.
Guðbjörg’s jewelry designs have attracted worldwide attention and he has participated in many international design exhibitions, both as a solo designer and in group exhibitions. In 2000 she received the first prize at the Spirit of the North jewelry competition in St. Petersburg. She received the DV Cultural Award in Reykjavík for artistic design in 2002 and the Icelandic Visual Arts Award for design in 2008.
