Ubisoft released a video of in-depth analysis that analyze the trailer cinematographic of Assassin’s Creed Shadows sequence by sequence, illustrating the characters and settings that we will find in this new chapter of the series.
Creative director Jonathan Dumont and assistant director of cinematic design Akim Milne set out to describe everything we saw in the first trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, starting from the chase scene that introduces the character of Naoe, a shinobi originally from Iga.
The two developers explained that the troops seen attacking the village of Naoe are precisely those belonging to Nobunaga Oda’s army, which also includes among their ranks the African samurai Yasuke. The latter utters words related to the ancient Japanese proverb of the frog in the well.
At this point we see the port of Sakai and some Portuguese ships which probably represent the moment in which man arrived in Japan in the guise of a simple servant. In the next scene there is Nobunaga Oda, who notices Yasuke and decides to make him become a real samurai.
Forged in blood
Yasuke quickly learns the art of war and become an unstoppable warrior, which Oda employs on the most difficult battlefields during the clashes for the unification of Japan. Until the Iga episode, when the samurai meets Naoe and something in him changes forever.
The trailer shows the interaction between the two protagonists through several scenes that also highlight the season system of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and then move on to a moment in which the two have already begun to collaborate and receive information on the next target to eliminate.
Dumont and Milne finally dedicated a few words to the fighting, to the peculiar Naoe’s Hidden Blade that can become a dagger and the stealth elements that we will find in this new chapter.
