Electoral violence in Mexico continues to rise, and this morning the attack against the candidate for local deputy in Cuajimalpa, Rafael Montielwho represents the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).
According to videos shared on social networks, the candidate Rafael Montiel was brutally attacked by a group of armed individuals They arrived in a white car and motorcycles.
In the images you can see the aggressors mercilessly beating Rafael Montiel and another person who accompanied him. Despite the politician’s attempts to calm the situation, the attacks did not stop, which caused alarm among the neighbors who witnessed the scene.
PRI authorities demand justice
In the face of this act of violence, Alejandro Moreno, president of the PRI, strongly condemned the events and denounced the intimidation of the opposition.. He demanded that those responsible be identified and punished, underlining the need to protect the integrity of the candidates and the democratic process.
In addition, The PRI leader directly blamed the Morena party: “MORENA IS VIOLENCE AND COWARDY! This is how they have just attacked our candidate for Local Representative in Cuajimalpa, Rafael Montiel, a young committed PRI member who is working and building for the citizens.”
“This is the responsibility of MORENA, a group of violators who seek to instill fear in the opposition. They are cowards! They are desperate, they know they are going to lose and that is why they resort to aggression. We demand that those responsible be found and apply the full weight of the law!”
Rafael Montiel, visibly affected by the attack, explained that the incident occurred in the El Contadero neighborhood and took the opportunity to address the local authorities. Without hesitation, he defied those who tried to intimidate him, ensuring that he will not back down in his electoral campaign and will continue working for the community.
