A cough sparks a fist fight on a transatlantic flight. Thanks to brave stewardesses, something worse is prevented.
San Francisco – reports from the US broadcaster CNN According to reports, an argument broke out between two passengers on an Eva Air flight from Taipei to San Francisco – so violent that even the flight attendants had to intervene. The argument was apparently triggered by the coughing of a third passenger.
Flight attendants intervene: Passengers have a fist fight on the plane
The airline informed the broadcaster that the conflict began when a passenger began coughing. Since the cough was bothering the person sitting next to him, he tried to change seats. However, he chose a seat that was already occupied by another passenger. This led to an argument between the two men, which ultimately ended in a fight. A video on X (formerly Twitter) shows the fight.
At this point, the Eva Air flight BR08 had already been traveling for around three hours on the twelve-hour flight, reports Channel News Asia (CNA). According to the news portal, three flight attendants intervened in the fight and were quickly able to calm the men down. They also received help from uninvolved passengers, as the video shows. On X, the stewardesses were praised for their courage.
A similar incident also occurred on board a United Airlines flight when a man caused a disturbance over the food on offer. In this case the flight even had to be diverted.
After a fight on the plane: passengers were arrested on arrival
Despite the fight, the flight was not affected and the plane was able to land as scheduled in San Francisco in the USA. According to Eva Air, the arguing passengers were taken in for questioning upon arrival. In a statement to CNN, the Taiwanese airline cited its “zero tolerance policy for disruptive passenger behavior” and said it would reward the flight attendants appropriately for their bravery.
Verbal or physical conflicts often occur on flights. Sometimes the passengers aren’t even the problem: some can’t agree on the seating position. Because a Pilot didn’t stop drinking, the associated Japanese airline JAL decided to cancel the flight the next morning. (cln)
