There second season from the HBO series The Last of Us it will only be available in 2025, but in the meantime we can while away the wait with i first two official shots of the new episodes.
In the first shot we can see Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey, holding a rifle inside what appears to be a shed, while in the second, Pedro Pascal’s Joel with an apparently aged appearance, in line with the time jump of about five years between the end of the first season and the beginning of the second. If that’s not enough for you, a few days ago some shots from the set were also leaked online.
Some details on The Last of Us series
We remind you that The Last of Us series was born thanks to the joint efforts of HBO and Sony Picture Television and is based on video games made by Naughty Dog for PlayStation consoles. The executive producers are Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, the latter also creative director of the video games. In Italy the first season is available in streaming on the NOW TV subscription service and via Sky.
The series is set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity is on the brink of the abyss after it has been decimated by a parasitic fungus that kills the host and transforms it into a sort of zombie. The story follows the events of Joel, a cynical smuggler, and Ellie, a teenager born after the outbreak of the pandemic and who does not know the world before the crisis. The second season will be based on the video game The Last of Us Part 2, although it has previously been suggested that a third season will probably be necessary to tell all the events of the Naughty Dog title.
The cast of the second season of The Last of Us will see Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey once again take on the roles of Joel and Ellie. Also confirmed are the returns of Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Joel’s brother, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. As for the new characters, Isabela Merced will be Dina, while Kaitlyn Dever will play Abby, both figures of great importance in the new events. Danny Ramirez will play Manny, Ariela Barer will play Mel, Tati Gabrielle will play Nora and Spencer Lord will play Owen.
