Cruz Azul and Monterrey will star in one of the semifinals of the Clausura 2024 tournament of Liga MX. The second leg will take place this Thursday, May 16 at the Gigante de Acero, while the second leg will be held on Sunday the 19th at the Ciudad de los Deportes Stadium.
Liga MX took longer than usual to communicate the schedules for this phase of the competition because there were some problems setting them up. It was originally planned that the second leg semi-final between Maquina Celeste and Rayados would be played at 7:00 p.m., however, the league decided to move the match to 6:00 p.m.
What is the reason for this determination? Coming up next, we tell you.
On Sunday, May 19, the third and final presidential debate will be held. The headquarters will be the University Cultural Center of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
The debate is scheduled to start at 8:00 p.m., so Liga MX decided to change the time of the match between Cruz Azul and Monterrey so that these events would not overlap.
In this way, Liga MX decided that the match would take place at 6:00 p.m. Due to the current format of the league, there is no possibility of extra time being played in the semi-final phase, so there is no risk of the match going beyond 8:00 p.m.
