Ducati and Gigi Dall’Igna could hardly have asked for more at the French Grand Prix, given that the Desmosedici GPs monopolized the first four positions in the Le Mans race and now there are just four riders from the Borgo Panigale company watching everyone from above also in the world rankings.
The general director of the Rosso racing department could not hide his satisfaction in the now usual in-depth analysis of the weekend which is published on the official Ducati website.
“4 Ducatis in the same number of top positions, 6 in the top 7. A spectacular race on an exemplary day for our teams. The numbers say this but even more convincing is what we saw on the track between Saturday and Sunday, confirming the great work that all our teams are doing with bikes and riders”, said Dall’Igna, who then moved on to analyze the performances of his pupils, starting with the winner Jorge Martin.
“A superb Martin repeated the Sprint Race by winning a heart-pounding GP, in an exciting challenge decided in the sprint after a close battle until the last corner. As always fast and stubborn, he knew how to seize the moment to take the lead and stay there, imposing himself with the right aggressiveness but also perfect competitive sense”, he said of the current leader of the world championship standings, who left France with a 38 point margin over Pecco Bagnaia and 40 over Marc Marquez and Enea Bastianini.

The Venetian engineer, however, also had important words for Marc Marquez and his double comeback from 13th place: “Marquez confirmed the brilliant progress he is making, his giant strides, which he is, bringing his Ducati from starting box 13 in second position which counts as a victory. He is now constantly in front dueling for the podium and repeats, with an excellent race, second place on Saturday after the disappointing qualifying.”
The most sore point of the weekend was perhaps Bagnaia, who had to settle for the lowest step of the podium, losing the duels with the two Spaniards, after being forced to retire in the Sprint on Saturday.
“After an excellent start, the kind he knows how to do, Pecco was the protagonist of a tight race with great character, he gave everything attacking and defending with the generosity of a champion, only suffering the return of Martin first and then Marquez at the end An apparently interim result, in reality, in the context of a long and demanding championship for everyone, these are not easy races that you need to know how to lead to the podium.”
Finally, he also said a few words for Bastianini, who in turn climbed from tenth place on the grid to the final fourth: “It’s an important result taking into account the penalty he had to pay, without which in my opinion he could have fought for the top, and he would have deserved it also considering the fastest lap of the race set in the last laps”.
