Four years have passed since the release of Ghost of Tsushima, and many are wondering what Sucker Punch is working on. Although many leaks and rumors suggest that a sequel to its 2020 game is on the way, new information ensures that we will actually see the return of Sly Cooper.
The last installment starring this raccoon was Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time in 2013. Since then, the franchise has remained silent, with only a couple of references in other PlayStation games. In this way, Jeff Grubb has indicated that he has heard multiple sources who claim that a new installment of Sly Copper would be on the way for the PlayStation 5.
Now, The new Sly Cooper has not replaced the development of Ghost of Tsushima 2. The sequel will still happen, but before Jin Sakai returns, the iconic Sucker Punch franchise will have a new installment. At the moment the scale of this project is unknown, whether it will be a AAA development, or something smaller to see its launch in the near future.
While Jeff Grubb’s information sounds possible, Jason Schreier, a Bloomberg journalist, has pointed out that a new Sly Cooper is not in development, and the reason why we do not have information about Ghost of Tsushima 2 It’s because AAA game development takes between five and seven years. Schreier mentions that Sucker Punch is a small studio compared to other PlayStation teams, such as Naughty Dog and Santa Monica, so they work on only one project at a time.
“There is no truth in this, I am sorry to say. Sucker Punch is a single project studio. The reason Ghost of Tsushima 2 isn’t out yet is because AAA video games now take 5-7 years to develop. (Also, Sucker Punch is smaller than most other AAA game developers.)

Although the possibility of a new Sly Cooper being available in the future is not ruled out, everything seems to indicate that this will happen until Ghost of Tsushima 2 is available. In related topics, Sucker Punch talks about the possibility of a new Sly Cooper. Likewise, we already know when he will arrive Ghost of Tsushima to PC.
Author’s Note:
A new Sly Cooper would be incredible, but we must accept that this project surely does not fit into PlayStation’s plans. The company has focused on large-scale AAA productions, and while something smaller, as the return of Sly Cooper would surely be, is not in its plans, at least for the moment.
