Brazilian exports of fresh and processed chicken meat totaled 480.7 thousand tons in April, 10.5% above the total shipped in the same period of 2023. Revenue grew 5%, to US$ 882.2 million, according to a report on Friday, 10th, the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). In the four months, product exports total 1.701 million tons, 2.8% less than in the period of 2023. Revenue for the year totals US$ 3.024 billion, 11.4% below the four months of 2023.
“The performance of chicken meat exports in April rebalances expectations and maintains the sector’s positive projections for the year, even in the face of internal adversities, such as the Standard Operation (of federal agricultural tax auditors)”, said the president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin. “On the other hand, we will monitor the effects resulting from the floods in Rio Grande do Sul next month, considering that it is a relevant state for exports.”
ABPA’s markets director, Luís Rua, adds that, “following the trend of increased demand observed in recent months”, the Middle Eastern countries are the positive highlight of the year. “We also see a gradual recovery in prices in all markets throughout this year, which is an important indication of the increase in international demand already observed for the Brazilian product.”
According to ABPA, the largest importer of chicken meat in Brazil, China received 57.7 thousand tons of Brazilian product in April, 22.9% less than in the same period last year. Next came Japan, which imported 42.2 thousand tons, 5.9% more, followed by the United Arab Emirates, with 41 thousand tons (+31.9%), Saudi Arabia, with 37.2 thousand tons (+ 59%) and the Philippines, with 29.4 thousand tons (+35.7%).
Paraná is the largest exporter, with 196.7 thousand tons in April, 5.9% more than the total recorded in the same period in 2023. Next comes Santa Catarina, with 103.9 thousand tons (+19.7%) , Rio Grande do Sul, with 69.2 thousand tons (+20.4%), São Paulo, with 26 thousand tons (-10.2%) and Goiás, with 23.2 thousand tons (+15.5%) .
