The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has removed from office the person most responsible for his failed invasion of Ukraine, the until now Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu. A member of the president’s closest circle since he began his political career in the nineties, Shoigu has been singled out for the stagnation more than two years ago of a “special military operation” that was supposed to last days. Putin has taken advantage of the mandatory renewal of the cabinet of ministers at the beginning of his mandate to dismiss the general.
