The development of the Women’s Soccer League was marred this Saturday by the decision of the Llaneros players to abandon the match they were playing against América at the Pascual Guerrero stadium, on date 11 of the tournament.
América, which came into this round as the leader of the championship, faced a team that had a good campaign and was in fifth place.
The match was very even and América had to wait until the 60th minute to open the scoring, with a shot by Wendy Bonilla that goalkeeper Sandra Sepúlveda was unable to control.
However, the action left doubts, because the ball did not seem to enter the Llaneros goal in its entirety. The broadcast of the match, which was broadcast on YouTube, also does not leave clarity on the matter. That signal has no repetitions.
The visiting players went all out to protest to the central judge of the match, Manuela Vásquez, and the western assistant, Lina Córdoba.
The technical director of Llaneros, Beley Villa, was expelled and the players, led by Sepúlveda, after almost ten minutes, decided to go to the dressing room and abandon the game.
The sanction to which Llaneros is exposed for withdrawing
Now, Llaneros is exposed to a penalty for withdrawal, which would give them the game lost 3-0, and the players could also receive severe punishment from the championship’s Disciplinary Committee.
Day 11 began on Friday with a goalless draw between Internacional and Millonarios, in Palmira. This Saturday, Nacional crushed Deportivo Pereira, 6-0.
