George Lucas he is no longer a fundamental figure for the development of the franchise Star Wars, but of course that doesn’t mean he isn’t interested in the saga he created. From time to time, it seems, he pops up on a Disney Plus set or has his say on various projects in development or released. For example, Lucas recently revealed that he really enjoyed the series Obi-Wan Kenobi available on Disney Plus.
In an interview with Full of Sith, Pablo Hidalgo, member of the Lucasfilm Story Grouprevealed that initially the production team was a little worried about the idea of creating a story that would take place between two of Lucas’ films, namely Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
Hidalgo says that fans certainly already had their own idea of what happened at that time and so creating a new story might have annoyed some. The team then asked what Lucas thought of the matter and the response from the creator of Star Wars was more than positive.
Hidalgo’s comment on Obi-Wan Kenobi
Hidalgo said: “Part of this was interfacing with George. Early on there was a conversation with George about what his thoughts were… He was 100% in favor“Hidalgo said.
Hidalgo added: “I heard it was one of the products he liked most about Star Warsbecause he recognizes that a lot of what he did in the prequels has been carried forward and celebrated.”
It therefore seems that Lucas appreciated Obi-Wan Kenobi also because it is a series that builds on what he imagined for Episode I, Episode II and Episode III.
Of course, Obi-Wan Kenobi isn’t the only Star Wars TV series that serves as a prequel to the original films and builds on the prequel trilogy. Let’s think for example of Star Wars The Clone Wars. If we want to go further back and find out what happened to the Republic before the Skywalker period, however, we will have to see The Acolyte The Follower.
