Bethesda Game Studios has announced, through its official account on X, that Fallout 4 will receive a soon new updatecoming right at the start of next week and intended to bring further improvements across all platforms.
There isn’t much information at the moment beyond the launch date and some indications generic: the new update will be published on Monday 13 May, i.e. at the beginning of the week, on all platforms on which the game is present, i.e. PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
“This update will include new settings options graphics and performanceas well as new adjustments and improvements”, we read in Bethesda’s message, which is extremely vague but also decidedly promising.
Updates and improvements coming soon
So there will be some technical improvementsprobably related to graphic quality and performance according to reports, perhaps also correcting some strange discrepancies that were detected between the various versions following the “next gen” update, in particular with the Xbox version which seems not to show the expected changes between quality and performance modes.
Various analyzes were conducted on the issue, including that of Digital Foundry, but Bethesda had reported that it was not a bug. At this point we will see if this patch will bring changes on that front, which is likely at this point.
This could also mean further adaptation work for mods, as they always have to readjust after updates to the original code, but we’re waiting to see the extent of this update. Meanwhile, Fallout 4 was the best-selling game in April in the United Kingdom, to illustrate the notable revival for the franchise following the launch of the TV series.
