The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) said that 360,000 buildings in the Gaza Strip were partially damaged or completely destroyed. This came in a report published by ESCWA, which included data from various institutions and organizations about the material damage to buildings and infrastructure as a result of the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
The report included data from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the United Nations Satellite Center (UNOSAT), the Graduate Center at the City University of New York, and the University of Oregon.
The report stated that 2 percent of the population of the Gaza Strip were killed, 4 percent were injured, while almost the entire population was displaced.
He stressed that the extent of the damage resulting from the ongoing attacks in the Gaza Strip is unprecedented. The report stated that the infrastructure in Gaza was severely damaged, according to data from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics dated April 28. He pointed out that more than 50% of the buildings in the Gaza Strip were destroyed, and 360,000 buildings were partially damaged or completely destroyed. The report indicated that 123,706 damaged buildings had been monitored in the Gaza Strip by April 19, according to data from the United Nations Satellite Center.
The report suggested that between 138,000 and 172,000 buildings in Gaza would have been completely destroyed or damaged by January 9, 2024.
