The new LEGO Star Wars animated special for Disney Plus, “Rebuild the Galaxy,” confirms a suspicion among fans: Jar Jar Binks was actually a Sith Lord.
This special, which dismantles and reconstructs the known Star Wars universe, features a sinister Darth Jar Jar, played by Ahmed Best, the character’s original actor. From huge AT-AT walkers with Rebel symbols to Ewoks conquering space as bounty hunters, the trailer reveals unexpected twists and turns on familiar movies and series.
This special, scheduled to premiere on September 13 on Disney Plus, will arrive as part of a very busy year for the franchise, with premieres such as “The Acolyte” and “Skeleton Crew.”

Star Wars: Who is Darth Jar Jar, is he a Sith we should fear?
This extravagant theory about whether or not the clueless Gungan was a hidden Sith master arose thanks to a conversation that actor Ahmed Best had in 2016 with YouTuber Jamie Stangroom for the web series “These Are the Actors You’re Looking For.” .
The actor then suggested that the character of Jar Jar was actually intended to play a much larger role in the prequel trilogy, possibly aligning with the sinister tones of Episode III. However, due to the character’s negative reception, plans for this darker narrative were shelved by George Lucas.
The actor even mentions during the interview a supposed deleted scene where we could see the Gungan walking next to the sinister Palpatine and Palpatine expresses gratitude for his fundamental role in facilitating the rise of the Empire and would trust him with part of his future plans. Without a doubt this scene would have given much more to talk about and would have confirmed some of the theories.
But don’t worry, because despite the intriguing possibilities raised by the theory of Darth Jar Jar, In the current canon, the character’s fate was very different, since according to the novel “Aftermath: The End of the Empire” written by Chuck Wendig, Jar Jar Binks was exiled by his people due to his role in the rise of the Galactic Empire. After the Battle of Endor and the rise of the New Republic, Jar Jar performed as a clown on the streets of Theed, being popular among children but shunned by adults due to his collaboration with the Empire.
So the idea that a clumsy Gungan actually harbors secret Sith powers will only be part of this special which promises to be just as crazy as all the past Lego content where we’ve even seen time travel and other crazy things.
