Man enters hospital and stabs 23 people, two dead are reported

An individual unleashed a stroke with knifeleaving as balance two people deceased and at least 21 injuries at Chengnan Hospital, located in Zhenxiong, southwest of Chinaaccording to reports from local authorities.

The official statement, released through the municipality’s WeChat account, indicated that the attack occurred in the Chengnan hospitalwhere the attacker, described as a local man, indiscriminately stabbed patients and medical staff.

After the chaos unleashed by the violent episode, the injured were quickly transferred to medical centers to receive urgent care. Likewise, police authorities announced the arrest of the alleged aggressor, who was captured near the scene of the crime.

While incidents of this type are rare in China, the country has seen some knife attacks in recent years.

Strict regulation on firearms has led aggressors to use alternative means to perpetrate their violent acts.

Last August, a man with a history of mental disorders carried out a similar attack in Yunnan province, leaving two dead and several injured. Previously, another similar incident occurred at a kindergarten in Guangdong province, where six people lost their lives and one was injured.
