His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, deputized Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State, to attend the ceremony of the “Oasis of Mercy” House, and the ribbon cutting of the “Awlad Zayed” Hall in the New Administrative Capital of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
In a ceremony attended by a large gathering of diplomats, businessmen and media, Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi stressed the historical relationship between the United Arab Emirates and the people of Egypt. In her speech, she mentioned the will of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, to his children to love Egypt: “I advised my children to always be by Egypt’s side…and this is my will, I repeat it to them before you, to always be by Egypt’s side, as this is the way to achieve pride.” For the Arabs, Egypt is the heart, and if the heart stops, life will not be possible for the Arabs.” She added that Egypt was in the heart of the late Sheikh Zayed and is still in the hearts of his children, the people of the UAE.
Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi said that the relationship between the UAE and Egypt provides a unique model for relations between countries, in addition to strategic relations at various levels. Emirati-Egyptian relations are based on love, giving and humanitarian work.
Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi conveyed to the attendees the greetings of the leadership and people of the UAE, and their wishes for the Oasis of Mercy House to achieve its goals of providing a safe haven for children, and raising them to be positive and effective persons in society for themselves and others, regardless of their religious affiliation, which reflects the UAE’s approach to consolidating the values of Tolerance, promoting interfaith dialogue and the principles and values of the Document on Human Fraternity.
Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi said that the Oasis of Mercy House project is one of the fruits of the Document on Human Fraternity, especially as it translates the principles of the document into concrete actions on the ground, and it is a true translation of what is stated in the document.
Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi described the project as having a great humanitarian dimension, especially as it targets orphans whose care is an important and necessary message that has a positive impact on the orphans and on society.
Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi thanked the Foundation for Human Fraternity, Monsignor Youannis Lahzi for joining the fraternal march today, and all those responsible for the project in Egypt and the world.
Before the ceremony began, Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi and Monsignor Dr. Youannis Lahzi, former Secretary of Pope Francis and President of the Human Fraternity Foundation, planted an olive tree at the entrance to the Oasis of Mercy House, to emphasize that the Oasis of Mercy project is a sign of friendship between the Sons of Zayed and the people of the Land of Kenana and a symbol of peace, prosperity and human brotherhood. Monsignor Youannis Lahzi told Al-Ittihad that naming the main hall of the Oasis of Mercy House by the name “Zayed’s Sons” comes in gratitude, appreciation, and thanks for the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, for the Dar Oasis of Mercy project, which began its implementation after The signing of the “Human Fraternity” Document by His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, in February 2019, in Abu Dhabi.
Monsignor Youannis Lahzi extended his deep thanks to Their Highnesses the Sheikhs of the Emirates and the people of the Emirates for their generous support of the Oasis of Mercy project, which was born on the land of Zayed Al Khair to embody the principles of the Document on Human Fraternity. He also thanked His Excellency Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his great support of the Human Fraternity Foundation and its charitable initiatives to serve all segments of the Egyptian people.
The “Oasis of Mercy House” project for orphan care is one of the projects of the Egyptian Human Fraternity Foundation, along with the “Bambino Gizo” Hospital for Fetal, Maternal and Child Medicine, the Human Fraternity School for the Care of People of Determination, and the Human Fraternity Restaurant chain. Monsignor Youannis Lahzi said that the UAE is a guardian of human brotherhood and does not stop at words, but rather expresses its convictions and values through actions.
Youannis Lahzi told Al-Ittihad that all charitable initiatives carried out by the Human Fraternity Foundation are a translation of the Human Fraternity Document that was signed in Abu Dhabi.
The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Maryam Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt, Dr. Hamad Obaid Al Kaabi, CEO of the News Center at Abu Dhabi Media Network, and Mr. Captain Hamad Yousef Khater, Head of the Special Projects Department at the Ministry of Interior – Office of Lt. General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President Cabinet, Minister of Interior.
During the ceremony, the valuable gift given by His Holiness Pope Francis, the Pope of the Catholic Church, to the Oasis of Mercy House project was revealed, which is a replica of the Statue of Mercy by the international artist Michelangelo. This gift is a memorial to Pope Francis’ visit to Egypt in 2017, and in appreciation of Egypt’s historical role as an oasis of coexistence, peace, brotherhood, and interfaith dialogue.
Dr. Hamad Obaid Al Kaabi said that the project is an expression of the fraternal relationship between the Emirates and Egypt, noting that the projects of the Human Fraternity Foundation are a message of love and peace, and a practical application of the Human Fraternity Document.
In her speech, Her Excellency Minister Nabila Makram, former Egyptian Minister of Immigration and Head of the Fahim Foundation for Psychological Support in Cairo, stressed that the launch of the Oasis of Mercy House project in the Administrative Capital is an expression of the humanitarian role of the United Arab Emirates, praising the special relationship between the two countries. She said that humanity is the common ground that must be preserved in our region and the world.
His Eminence Sheikh Dr. said: Mazhar Shaheen, said that the UAE extends a hand of goodness to all parts of the region and the world, and that the UAE extends its hand across borders as an example of pure humanity, seeking to spread messages of love and peace. He explained that these charitable projects aim to serve the Egyptian people, affirm brotherhood among their various groups, and reflect the transformation of the principle of human brotherhood from a slogan into tangible actions.
Oasis of Mercy House
Wahat Al-Rahma Orphanage in the Administrative Capital of Egypt is an orphanage based on providing the highest standards of care and rehabilitation for orphans and children in need, by providing a family atmosphere necessary for the growth and upbringing of the child, in addition to qualifying and educating him to be able to develop himself in the future and make a positive contribution to his community.
The home was designed to be a family home that opens its doors to orphaned children, where the children will live with families consisting of a father and a mother, in a home atmosphere that provides privacy, dignity, and the means for upbringing and growth for the children, which contributes to alleviating their suffering, and giving them an alternative home in which they can feel the family’s warmth and affection.
The “Wahat Al-Rahma” Orphanage provides the ability to receive hundreds of children from the ages of 7 to 18, and the home can host up to 300 children.
The project aims to ensure suitable housing and a decent and decent standard of living for children. Meeting all the nutritional, health, educational, psychological and social needs of children and minors, respecting their wishes, opinions and privacy, and at the same time providing them with guidance and advisory support aimed at guiding them to positive and socially acceptable behaviour. Surrounding children and young minors in a social environment and an appropriate family atmosphere that guarantees them the opportunity to enjoy their legitimate rights guaranteed by the state, to realize themselves and stabilize in the social environment.
