The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, announced yesterday that the Israeli authorities prevented him from entering the Gaza Strip for the second time in a week. Lazzarini wrote on “X”: “This week alone, they refused – for the second time – my entry into Gaza, where I intended to be with our colleagues in (UNRWA), including those on the front lines.”
Earlier, UNRWA said in a press statement published on the “X” social networking site: “The war in Gaza continues as a war on women,” adding that more than 10,000 women were killed and 19,000 other women were injured as a result of the ongoing Israeli attacks.
The agency added that on average, 37 children in Gaza lose their mothers every day, explaining that life conditions are “particularly horrific” for more than 155,000 pregnant or breastfeeding women in the Gaza Strip, as they face difficulties in accessing water and sanitation facilities.
