Tottenham coach Ange Postecoglou, competing in the English Premier League, said that his team needs some changes, while it is heading in a “completely different direction.”
Since taking over as Spurs coach last year, Postecoglou has sought to develop an offensive performance style at the club, which required major changes in the lineup, so that this transformation could be implemented.
The club signed a number of new players, while a number of old players left, such as Hugo Lloris and Eric Dier.
Spurs started the current season promisingly, but lost twice in a row last week to Arsenal and Chelsea, and this had a negative impact on their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season. This stumble also revealed some of the gaps that still exist in their ranks.
Regarding the team’s lineup, Postecoglou said in response to a question: “We need changes. Changes must be made.”
The Australian coach confirmed, in statements before Tottenham’s match away from home with Liverpool, that the club cannot make changes in its performance style, without making some change in the lineup.
Tottenham is ranked fifth among the twenty teams in the English Premier League, and will host Liverpool, third in the standings, on Sunday.
