I am more than 30 confirmed deaths and around sixty people missing in Brazil after the collapse of a dam hydroelectric in the south due to violent rains that caused floods in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. When the dam collapsed it caused a two meter high wave. Around 15 thousand people have been forced to leave their homes, while at least 500 thousand are without clean water and electricity. Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva visited the region promising help from the central government.
Unfortunately the weather forecast is not encouraging, with further rain predicted to fall in the region.
