The 54-year-old Vornanen says on his website that he worked his entire police career, which began in 1993, at the Joensuu police station in the Eastern Finland Police Department. As a police officer, he says that he worked, among other things, as an occupational safety trainer for the police organization and in management positions in operational field operations.
Vornanen has been a candidate in the elections three times: in the 2021 municipal elections, the 2022 regional elections and the 2023 parliamentary elections. In all of these, he has been elected as a representative and his number of votes has ranked in the middle caste of those elected.
Him was elected MP with 6,474 votes from the constituency of Savo-Karelia.
He has given 12 speeches in the Parliament, in which he has spoken in favor of, among other things, increasing police resources, crime fighting, NATO cooperation and border control rights.
“In my opinion, the budgeting for the security sector in particular warms up, to name a few: the number of police officers will be increased to 8,000 police personnel this term of government, the needs of the fire and rescue sector will be taken into account, and reservist activities will be supported by increasing the number of shooting ranges from 650 to 1,000,” Vornanen commented on the government's program in the parliament's plenary session in June.
Vornanen is a member of the parliament's finance committee and the intelligence control committee. He is a deputy member of the administrative committee of the parliament. In addition, he is a member of Yleisradio's supervisory board.
Vornanen says on his website that he has been hunting all his adult life.
“I have been fishing since I was a little boy and I started hunting when I was 15, as soon as I got my hunting license. As a rule, I have hunted here in North Karelia for small game and fowl using a standing dog,” writes Vornanen.
The history of hunting has also been seen in the parliament. In February, he demanded “tolkku” for the population-based hunting of big game and called basic Finns a “real party of hunters”.
It is possible for MPs to keep weapons in parliament because of their hunting hobby, but Iltalehti according to the information, Vornanen has not kept a firearm in the parliament.
Vornanen has also been awarded several times. This week, he said on social media that he had received a government merit badge in recognition of his long-term service to the state.

On Independence Day 2009, he was awarded the 1st class medal of the Order of the White Rose of Finland. According to the knighthood, the criteria for awarding are, among other things, merits in the profession or notable social positions and good reputation.
