Formula E presented the Gen 3 Evo yesterday, but behind the scenes it is already working towards the future, more specifically the Gen 4 which will debut in the 2026/2027 season. In recent weeks, on the occasion of its home Grand Prix in Japan, Nissan was the first manufacturer to formalize its commitment to the new generation, confirming that it will be in Formula E at least until 2030.
After Nissan, Jaguar has now also officially announced its decision to continue its journey in Formula E, after reaching the milestone of 100 races in Tokyo at the start of the championship. The English brand, therefore, will also be in the electric series until at least 2030, continuing the path that began in 2016, when Jaguar decided to return to a single-seater category after leaving Formula 1 at the end of 2004 by selling the team to Red Bull.
During its time in Formula E, Jaguar achieved 13 victories and twice placed second in the team standings. Furthermore, on several occasions the Jaguar brand has fought to win the world drivers' title, as last year with Mitch Evans, even if for now the hoped for success has not yet arrived.

Furthermore, although Jaguar failed to win any titles as an official team, last season its customer team Envision Racing won the team classification. An objective that the British brand now hopes to achieve with the official team: at the halfway point of the championship it currently finds itself leading the world championship.
“I am proud that, since we started in 2016, we have built an extraordinary, highly capable and competitive team, fighting for victories and titles in a true world championship,” said the Jaguar team principal James Barclay.
“This is our Formula 1. In the future, starting from 2025, we will be a fully electric car company and this is the pinnacle of electric racing, so the combination is perfect. The ingredients are all there and together with Formula And we at the FIA are committed to trying to put these ingredients together in the right way to really bring the potential of this championship to life.”

“As with everything in life, you need the right conditions and it's about working together to create them, and with Formula E and the FIA we are really confident in the direction and future of the championship. There is a lot of work to do, there are many things we need to continue to build and improve in Formula E, but the potential is really compelling.”
“The goal, when we founded this team in 2016, was to create a team that had a long-term vision, that brought motorsport and racing back into the DNA of Jaguar and this is what we see here in Formula E” .
The new regulations will come into force starting from the 2026 season and the new cars will be characterized by greater power, which will reach a peak of 600 kW, almost double the current one. Furthermore, there will be many new features regarding aerodynamics, which will have a high and low load package, tires with Bridgestone input and a revised battery.
Several manufacturers have already made it known that they are interested in continuing their journey in the electric series, including DS Performance, as anticipated by Eugenio Franzetti in an interview given to Motorsport.com on the occasion of the Misano ePrix.
