The Colombian singer Karol G, who was not present, won in sections such as artist of the year, song of the year for 'TQG', his collaboration with Shakira, or album of the year for 'Mañana will be nice', while Feid triumphed in categories such as streaming artist of the year or global Latin song of the year for 'Classy 101', along to Young Miko.
“I wouldn't have won this if it weren't for the people who listen to my music, I hope it multiplies to Colombia,” said the Colombian, also a Colombian, upon holding his first prize in his hands.
Featherweight, who along with Feid was the most nominated of the night with twelve mentions each, won in two categories: Best Regional Mexican Album for 'Génesis', and Best Regional Mexican Collaboration for her song 'She Baila Sola', along with Eslabón Armado.
“I just want to thank you for so much love that you have shown to the corridos of the Peso Pluma project, especially to my fans because they have made this wave of corridos get bigger,” said the singer from the stand.
Shakira, who was also conspicuous by her absence, showed that his legacy as a pop artist continues by having won the awards for song of the year, best pop artist and best pop song, while Kali Uchis won the award for best pop album for 'Orquídeas'.
Young Miko won the best new artist category, thus defeating artists like Peso Pluma or Bad Gyal, and Carin León did the same in the same category dedicated to the regional Mexican genre.
Grupo Frontera obtained one of the eleven awards for which it was competing, and the Puerto Rican Bad Bunny did not win in any of the eleven categories in which he was nominated.
Marc Anthony, Thalía and Becky G set the stage on fire
The meeting, which is characterized by vibrant performances by renowned and new artists, featured live music from singers such as Featherweight, Arcangel, Gabito Ballesteros, Ryan Castro, Becky G or Óscar Maydon.
And some artists took the opportunity to present unreleased premieres of their music, such as Puerto Rican Marc Anthony, who launched his single 'Ale Ale' from the stage, or Anitta, who danced and gave a preview of her next album 'Funk Generation' by performing the song 'Grip'.
A tribute to Montaner, the MS Band and Yandel
The most emotional moments of the night were carried out by the tributes to Latin figures who have marked Latin musical history such as the Venezuelan Ricardo Montaner and the Mexican Banda MS, who were awarded the Legacy award (legacy in Spanish), while the Reggaeton player Yandel received the Pioneer award (pioneer in Spanish).
“They (Banda MS) took banda music to another level, in a personal capacity you represent prudence and musical maturity,” said Joss Favela when presenting the award to the members of Banda MS.
Ricardo Montaner, who also went on stage to perform his hits with Thalía and Sergio George, expressed his gratitude to his family and offered a speech of support for emerging artists.
“To those who have just started, I want to tell you that it is worth continuing to work, it is worth remaining here after 45 years, and I will be here watching you then,” said the Venezuelan singer, moved to tears.
Yandel was the last to be honored for his career as a reggaeton star and from the stage he sang his hits accompanied by artists like Feid, Farruko and Jay Wheeler.
