Gabriela Rodriguez It is beginning to be a resounding name that resonates in women's football, although she is barely 18 years old. She can well be called the new blood, the new star, the crash of the new generation of the Colombian National Team. She is the current figure and scorer of the team that is competing in the final hexagonal of the South American U-20, in which this Friday Colombia faces Venezuela (4 pm).

She already has 5 goals in the South American tournament, being one of the best scorers. She wears Colombia's number 10 on her back, and defends it with honor, with quality and with ambition. Gabriela, who was already World Cup runner-up in the U-17 category, wants to make history with this U-20 team with which she will compete in the Soccer World Cup that will be held in Colombia, between August and September.
Her father Bernardo Rodríguez played professional soccer (he played for Deportivo Cali, Bucaramanga, Huila and Medellín) and runs a soccer school called Toritos, where he took his daughter as company. But one day, Gabrielita got bored, she went onto the field and started playing, and that's where her story with the ball began. Her father accepted it and decided to support her, first he took her to a Copa Ciudad de Bogotá in which Gabriela danced for the children. Then, she moved on to Atlas, which was an all-girls school. She arrived in America as a little girl and began to play alongside the experienced players, like Catalina Usme.
His journey in the national team has already been extensive, despite his youth, as he also played in the U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica in 2022 and was part of the team that played in the 2022 Copa América in which Colombia was runner-up.
Gabriela had a strange debut in the current South American, because in the match against Chile she scored two goals and then she was sent off. She was left with a bittersweet taste. But then when she came back, she scored two and then another. Gabriela recovered and is going for more, because her desire is to win this title, although Colombia already has a place in the World Cup.
“From a very young age she has a phrase that is until she wins
a World Cup. It is her dream,” says her father. It is the dream of the National Team.
