At the Beijing Motor Show, BMW presents the restyling from the Series 4 Gran Coupe together with its electric variant, the i4. This intervention follows the one carried out on the 4 Series Coupé and Cabriolet, with targeted updates to the design and features. The new BMW i4in its 2024 restyling version, introduces all-wheel drive xDrive40, which sits between the rear-wheel drive models and the M50. Furthermore, it features a battery powered by 81 kWh.
BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé what changes in the restyling
The restyling of the 4 Series Gran Coupe and i4 features slight, but significant changes. The double kidney front has been revised, with a partial closure on the i4 electric version.
The light clusters boast a new graphic pattern for the daytime running lights, while the elements are available at the rear Laserlight as an option. The packages M Sports And M Sport Pro include new carbon aerodynamic elements. New exterior colors like Cape York And Fire Red metallic have been introduced, along with the standard and Individual options.
All versions have the dashboard with BMW Curved Display and a redesigned steering wheel, plus cloth sport seats Sensatec. Physical controls are reduced, focusing functions on the central screen, with new customizations for materials and finishes available. The trunk capacity of all variants of the BMW i4 and the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé can be expanded by 470 litres to a maximum of 1,290 litres.
BMW petrol and diesel engines
The new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe offers a diverse range of engines, including inline six-cylinder petrol and dieselfour-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, all equipped with technology 48V mild hybrid. Power is transferred via gearbox Steptronic Sport eight-speed and can be operated by both rear-wheel drive and intelligent all-wheel drive BMW xDrive.
The engine range therefore includes four-cylinder petrol versions 420i with 184 HP And 430i xDrive with 245 HPthe sportswoman M440i xDrive MHEV with 374 HPand versions 190 HP 420d mild hybrid diesel And 430d xDrive with 286 HP.
BMW 4 Series i4 electric
The BMW i4 is now available in four model variants. The new BMW i4 xDrive40 features electric all-wheel drive, with a maximum system power of 295 kW/401 hp and autonomy in the WLTP cycle included between 444 and 548 km. Other variations include the BMW i4 M50 xDrive 545 HP (400 kW), there BMW i4 eDrive40 from 340 HP (250 kW) and the BMW i4 eDrive35 with 285 hp (210 kW). All versions are equipped with the battery 81 kWh with the exception of the i4 eDrive35 which has a smaller battery 67 kWh (386-500 km).
All versions of the BMW i4 are equipped with a combined charging unit that allows AC charging up to 11 kW and direct current charging up to 205 kW (180 kW for the BMW i4 eDrive35). Variants of the BMW i4 also support the Connected Home Chargingfor solar-, load- and cost-optimized charging via a dynamic electricity tariff, plus the convenience of charging while traveling with Plug & Charge Multi Contract.
Technology on board
The new BMW i4 and 4 Series Gran Coupé offer a wide range of assistance systems for safe and comfortable driving. Standard equipment includes speed limit warning, forward collision warning, parking assist, reversing camera and reversing assist. Furthermore, the Driving Assistant Professional, which includes steering assistant, lane control and Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, and the Parking Assistant Plus as optional.
The BMW iDrive system with QuickSelect based on BMW Operating System 8.5 offers an intuitive and easy user experience through touch on the control display and natural language. The new home screen features function symbols arranged vertically on a single level, while QuickSelect quick access allows you to directly select functions without having to enter submenus. The BMW Intelligent personal assistant offers new languages and updated graphics.
The package BMW Live Cockpit Plus includes the navigation system as standard BMW Maps cloud-based, with optimized charging route guidance unique in the segment. The optional BMW Live Cockpit Professional adds the BMW Head-Up Display and theAugmented View on the control display or on the instrument panel.
Initial vehicle access is made easy by scanning a QR code with a smartphone and syncing with the BMW ID. L'My BMW App allows you to monitor the vehicle's status and control various functions remotely, including the charging process and preconditioning of the BMW i4. There eSIM personal can be activated in the vehicle for optimized connectivity via the mobile communication standard 5G. Additionally, parking fees and refueling costs can be paid digitally directly from the vehicle.
Price, how much does the new BMW 4 Series cost
The price of the new 4 Series Gran Coupe starts at approx 60,000 euros. The market launch is planned for July 2024.
