Next week, Ferrari will show up in Miami with the ambition of making up for a weekend in China in which, for the first time this season, it failed to get at least one of its two cars on the podium.
The American market represents a great opportunity for teams both economically and in terms of image. It is no coincidence, therefore, that several teams in recent years have presented themselves in the United States with renewed liveries, perhaps linked to the colors of the place or to their past, as Ferrari will do this season in Miami with a return to blue.
Already last year, Ferrari had celebrated one of the three races in the USA with a livery paying homage to its past on the occasion of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, with white details that recreated a link with the history of the Scuderia in the Seventies. The experiment received a positive opinion from the fans, who appreciated the chromatic change, which is why the Red team decided to repeat the same attempt for Miami too.

A change of livery that is part of the “Cavalcade International”, a trip organized directly by the Cavallino company for its customers which will cross Tennessee and Florida towards Miami, precisely where the Formula 1 Grand Prix will be held.
The livery that the Red team will use in Miami will feature a touch of two shades of blue, namely La Plata Light Blue and Dino Light Blue, dating back to the origins of the Cavallino's history. Even if it has not yet shown the color scheme that will debut on the track for the sixth round of the 2024 world championship, Ferrari has however started preparations, showing the drivers' suits and clothing for that weekend.
Clearly, blue predominates on the suits, taking the space of red with two different shades. The drivers' suits were of the same color in the Sixties, such as those of John Surtees, Lorenzo Bandini and Chris Amon, which then extended to the following decade: in fact, Niki Lauda's suit was also of that shade in his first year with the Scuderia, as well as the overalls of the Maranello workers.
An operation clearly prepared well in advance, given that the new clothing was shown to Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc last January. Speaking about this change of color compared to the classic red, Flavio Manzoni explained: “Red is not the only color for Ferrari, there is also blue. Furthermore, blue was also Enzo Ferrari's traditional color, specifically La Plata azure. Enzo Ferrari particularly liked it, because he found it a relaxing colour”, says the Chief Design Officer of the Cavallino, who contributed to the creation of numerous road cars.
Even in Monza in the last two seasons, Ferrari paid homage to its past and the victory at Le Mans in 2023, with “Modena yellow” inserts alongside the traditional red color.
